Winter...
Some people find winter harsh, back breaking, dreary, devoid of life. I respect that outlook, especially when one has weathered storms that could break a person's will.
Yet I sit here, after a failed attempt to make it into work this morning through the first real storm of the season, and I feel refreshed.
The snow is swirling and I myself feel wind whipped but in a good way. Like when you fight with yourself to go outside and do something, making little excuses to try to convince yourself that you would be better inside than outside in the frigid cold. The little games we play with ourselves, the thoughts that we place in our minds can be exhausting. Eventually you just give up and go outside. Like that handful of snowflakes that lost their battle with the wind, removed from their cozy bank. Yet once free, they dance wildly and beautifully. No reservations. Just free.
I feel free, I feel refreshed and I feel happy. I am happy for winter and a fresh start that it brings. I am ecstatic at the possibilities that life holds in front of it now.
You can never be a snowflake without first weathering the storm.
